The government will put in place from 1er April 2017 measures which will have significant consequences on access to information concerning wastewater discharges. Fondation Rivières, environmental and citizen groups, Environment and Climate Change Canada and watershed organizations were refused access to information allowing the verification of the compliance of wastewater treatment plants with discharge and overflow standards. However, watershed organizations have been mandated by the government to monitor sanitation works.
