The City of Montreal is currently holding a public consultation concerning the construction of 6,000 housing units in Pierrefonds on a site of great ecological value. L'Anse-à-l'Orme and its river are home to the richest biodiversity in Montreal, with adjacent nature parks and Lac des Deux-Montagnes nearby. This space offers exceptional economic and ecological potential for recreational tourism.
The green coalition of Montreal and the citizens' committee “Save l'Anse-à-l'Orme”, which we support, are calling for the conservation of the entire area. Why build in a natural place when other land with no ecological value is available, and the city of Montreal has a shortage of protected territories? A petition from 17,000 citizens has already shown significant opposition to the project.
The deadline to register to submit a written brief or to express one's opinion verbally is Thursday April 27, 2017. If you wish to make a verbal presentation, you must call 514 872-8510.
