The Fondation Rivières and the Coalition for the Safeguarding of Ouiatchouan react to the words of Mr. Philippe Couillard, during the announcement of his candidacy in the constituency of Roberval. He then claims to support the mini hydroelectric power station program abandoned last winter.
Mr. Couillard affirms, speaking of “projects for the benefit of all”, that “(…) the mini-power projects, unfortunately abandoned by the PQ, with the exception of that of Val-Jalbert, are a good example. The Val-Jalbert project allows our region, for once, to exploit clean and renewable energy, the benefits of which make it possible to develop and diversify the economy in partnership with indigenous communities. We will bring these projects back to life. »
Philippe Couillard's statements highlight a whole series of bad decisions relating to small power plant projects, particularly at the economic level - loss of 80 M$ over 20 years - and social level - the project in Val-Jalbert does not meet the criteria of acceptability.
While Mr. Couillard dives into Roberval and swims in contradictions, his obvious lack of listening to the majority of citizens of his riding in the case in Val-Jalbert allows us to question an adequate representation of the the entire population of Quebec by this candidate.
