Bloom Lake mine: the BAPE rejects the project!

Press release - Environmental organizations welcome the conclusions of the Bureau d'audiences publiques sur l'environnement (BAPE) that Champion Iron must redo its homework to avoid the destruction of lakes caused by the storage of tailings at the Bloom Lake mine. The organizations are calling on Quebec to follow all BAPE recommendations and require the company to implement alternative solutions.

The global distribution range of this emblematic fish of our biodiversity is located exclusively in the Greater Montreal area. As a society, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to ensure the long-term survival and recovery of the only remaining population of this species, whose demographic situation can only be described as dramatic, since the species is on the brink of extinction worldwide.
