The Fondation Rivières will conduct a study on the water quality of the Rivière du Nord in order to highlight the swimming potential. The announcement was made by the mayor, Janice Bélair-Rolland, and by the president of the Foundation, Alain Saladzius, during a press conference organized as part of the Grand Splash event, which was held for the first time times in Saint-Jérôme.
The City recently inaugurated the art garden, a walk along the banks of the Rivière du Nord in downtown Saint-Jérôme, which aims to restore access to nature and the Rivière du Nord to citizens. This collaboration follows the one we did last year at L'Assomption where the study of Fondation Rivières allowed the City to open a beach in the city center. For this project, we will use the same rapid analysis technology used at L'Assomption. This technology, by enzymatic reaction, gives a result in 15 minutes.
“Ensuring respect and sustainability of our natural environments is a priority objective for the City, and an important responsibility. This is why we are very proud of the agreement concluded with the Fondation Rivières, which will allow us to conduct a study on water quality with the aim of highlighting the swimming potential in the Rivière du Nord,” specifies the mayor of Saint-Jérôme, Janice Bélair-Rolland.
“We are very happy with the opening of the City and the desire of its leaders to take all means to give citizens access again to this jewel that is the Rivière du Nord. We are convinced that this study will serve as a model for all municipalities in the watershed of the river,” adds Alain Saladzius, president of Fondation Rivières.
