Yves Goussard was first a Research Fellow at the National Centre for Scientific Research, Paris, France (1985-1991), then a professor at Polytechnique Montréal (1992-2024) in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering. He was heavily involved in the functioning of the latter institution, first within the professors' union (1995-2007) by holding several positions including that of president, then as a member of the Board of Directors (2007-2015) and finally by directing the Department of Electrical Engineering (2015-2021) and the Office of Faculty Affairs (2021-2024). As an administrator of Polytechnique Montréal and then in the management positions he held, Yves Goussard acted vigorously to ensure that environmental and sustainable development issues were adequately taken into account in the orientations and development of the institution, in particular by contributing to the inclusion of these notions in training programs and by actively supporting the establishment and then the actions of the Sustainable Development Office.
