Among the participants: the federal MP for Manicouagan, the political attach\u00e9 of the MP for Duplessis, and the Ekuanitshit Band Council. The event is organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/snapquebec.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Society for Nature and Parks of Canada, Quebec section (SNAP Quebec)<\/a> and the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/people\/Association-Eaux-Vives-Minganie\/100064419050679\/?paipv=0&amp;eav=AfZHwpBzcBNPOlR_9U-70PdpbI0u_Xgai6wjhywVsES3gZ2z2fQiRX37SbJ-0StkaBs&amp;_rdr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Association Eaux-Vives Minganie<\/a>. This is a great way to draw attention to this gem and the need to protect it against future harnessing!<\/p>\n<h2>Ecotourism rather than hydroelectricity<\/h2>\n<p>Ecotourism development around the Magpie River would be much more advantageous for Quebec. THE <a href=\"http:\/\/travel.nationalgeographic.com\/travel\/top-10\/white-water-rafting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Geographic<\/a>\u00a0has also ranked it 2nd in the world as a rafting destination.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\">Sign the petition for the protection of the Magpie!<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The petition is closed: More than 11,000 people have signed the petition to protect the Magpie River.
