The Fondation Rivi\u00e8res asks the Minister of Culture and Communications (MCCQ), Maka Kotto, to review the\u00a0Cultural Heritage Law<\/em> in force since October 2012 to prevent certain conflicts of interest involving regional county municipalities (MRCs), as in the case of the hydroelectric power station project on the heritage site of the historic village of Val-Jalbert, from recurring in other situations or regions of Quebec.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the new law gives the prerogative to the MRCs to apply for cultural heritage landscape status from the Ministry of Culture and Communications. Concerning Val-Jalbert, the MRC Domaine-Du-Roy, which is part of the organization promoting the power plant project, confirmed, during its meeting on October 9, 2012 in Roberval, that it will not give following this possibility. A democratic right is thus violated.<\/p>\n
