By jumping into the water, the Society of Bathing People claims a public swimming site at Bassin Louise.<\/p><p><strong>2003 &#8211;<\/strong> The initiative inspires the creation of a Grand Splash in Montreal. This version brings together a few participants in the Old Port to demand access allowing swimming. It is the Montr\u00e9al Baignade citizen committee which is leading the initiative, supported by the Earth Day organization.<\/p><p><strong>2018 &#8211;<\/strong> The Fondation Rivi\u00e8res joins the adventure for the organization of the Grand Splash. She became the main organizer the following year.<\/p><p><strong>2020 &#8211;<\/strong> The pandemic is pushing the organizers of the Grand Splash to rethink the formula, in order to maintain the course of the event&#039;s demands, despite the health measures in place. This virtual edition highlights potential swimming sites throughout Quebec.<\/p><p><strong>2021 &#8211;<\/strong> The Grand Splash attracts more than 300 participants in 10 municipalities across Quebec: Montreal, Quebec, Lachine, Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, Saguenay, Gracefield, Sainte-Martine, Saint-Paul-de-l&#039;Ile-aux-Noix, Saint -J\u00e9r\u00f4me and Mont-Saint-Hilaire, in addition to two mini-splash, spontaneous events organized in Chambly and at the Promenade Bellerive park in the T\u00e9treauville borough in Montreal.<\/p><p><strong>2022<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clayandfriends.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clay and Friends <\/a>\u00e9taient \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sidence d\u2019honneur alors que pr\u00e8s d&rsquo;une centaine de personnes ont saut\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau au quai Jacques-Cartier du Vieux-Port de Montr\u00e9al. La population \u00e9tait aussi invit\u00e9e \u00e0 se lancer \u00e0 l\u2019eau \u00e0 Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, Saint-Lambert, Sainte-Anne-de-Sorel, Sainte-Martine et Saint-Denis-sur-Richelieu.<\/p><p><strong>2023 <\/strong>&#8211; Une centaine de personnes ont saut\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;eau du Fleuve Saint-Laurent au Bassin Jacques-Cartier. L<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">es adeptes des sports nautiques non motoris\u00e9s (canot, kayak, SUP, etc.) se sont joint \u00e0 l&rsquo;aventure pour la premi\u00e8re fois. <\/span>La population des villes de Chambly, Sorel, et Sainte-Martine ont aussi particip\u00e9 \u00e0 ce Grand Splash pour r\u00e9clammer des acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau.<\/p><p><strong>2025<\/strong> &#8211; Au bassin de Chambly, une\u00a0 centaine de personnes ont particip\u00e9 \u00e0 une f\u00eate rassembleuse et familiale pour c\u00e9l\u00e9brer l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s au Richelieu. La population des villes de Sainte-Martine, Saint-Denis sur Richelieu et Batiscan ont aussi particip\u00e9 aux \u00e9ditions du Grand Splash local en plus d&rsquo;un Grand Non-Splash \u00e0 Candiac. Malheureusement, le Grand Splash de Montr\u00e9al a d\u00fb \u00eatre annul\u00e9, en raison de fortes pluies diluviennes, qui sont venues affecter la qualit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;eau. Nous nous sommes greff\u00e9s \u00e0 un comit\u00e9 citoyen qui s&rsquo;est form\u00e9 dans le but de voir se projet se mat\u00e9rialiser. Cette d\u00e9cision a \u00e9t\u00e9 payante : le Grand Splash \u00e0 Lachine a \u00e9t\u00e9 le plus grand Grand Splash de l&rsquo;histoire de la Fondation avec plus de 310 participantes et participants \u00e0 ce seul \u00e9v\u00e9nement. La couverture m\u00e9diatique a \u00e9t\u00e9 abondante et r\u00e9v\u00e8le un consensus populaire pour augmenter les espaces s\u00e9curis\u00e9s et publics pour l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau
