Since April 2012, Fondation Rivières has sent five complaints to the Office of the Complaints Commissioner of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy (MAMROT) concerning the hydroelectric power station project in Val-Jalbert.
On Friday April 26, 2013, Fondation Rivières receives a letter from MAMROT accompanied by a copy of that sent to the Lac-Saint-Jean Community Energy Corporation (SÉCLSJ). We can read there that the promoter will not suffer any consequences even though a contract for 220 000$ was awarded by mutual agreement in the Val-Jalbert file, contravening municipal rules according to which a call for tenders must be made for the contracts of more than 25,000$. MAMROT also recognizes that several contracts have been awarded in this way since 2011.
