Richelieu River: a report provides a first regional portrait of the performance of municipal sanitation works

Press release - The worrying quality of the river water noted in July 2017 by the canoeists who paddled the Richelieu River during the Le Richelieu en 24h event prompted Fondation Rivières to identify sources of pollution of municipal origin. This study, the first of its kind on a watershed scale, revealed that wastewater discharges are still numerous, and that the lack of planning in the work to be carried out demonstrates haphazard infrastructure management. The report recommends a new approach to support municipalities in identifying and resolving the most significant environmental problems at watershed level.

Spill of 135 million liters of wastewater in Quebec: the City must do more in terms of transparency and efficiency

Press release - One year after the Montreal spills, now known as flushgate, Quebec City has announced four "planned" spills between November 22, 2016 and February 2017. The city repeated several elements of Montreal's argument, citing an absence of consequences given various nebulous factors, to conclude that the operation was comparable to an "oil change".
