The performance report of the 14 wastewater treatment systems in the Mille-Iles River watershed drawn up by the Fondation Rivières for the years 2008 to 2011 indicates that the requirements of the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Parks (MDDEP) are not respected regarding wastewater overflows during rainy weather. The worst situations are noted in Deux-Montagnes, Saint-Eustache and Terrebonne.
This study, based on data from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Regions and Land Occupancy (MAMROT), makes it possible to identify the problems of wastewater spills in times of rain and melting which should be corrected.
The performance of the 14 wastewater treatment plants is compliant except at the Mascouche/Terrebonne station where there are too many phosphorus discharges. We note that the renovation of the Boisbriand wastewater treatment plant meets the requirements and that it is planned that that of Saint-Placide will soon be replaced.
